JavaScript …. You might be searching who developed JavaScript? So let me tell you that it was Brendan Eich who introduced JavaScript in the year 1995 when he was working at Netscape Communications. It was the way to add programs to web pages in the Netscape Navigator browser. Now It made the modern web apps more interacting where you can interact directly with these web apps without doing a page reload for every action.

Now let me clear one more common misunderstanding related to JavaScript.

Yes, you read it right!!. There is still a lot of confusion that JavaScript is based on Java. May be because of its name. In my point of view Java to JavaScript is same like Car to Carpet. But, let me tell you that they are not related anyhow. There was a marketing strategy behind this. Long story short, initially at the time when JavaScript was launched, Java was very popular. It was easy to gain more popularity while sticking to the popular one. So they decided the name JavaScript. By the way it was good idea to ride along the success. And now we stuck with the name.

What is ECMAScript??

Now after it was adopted outside the Netscape, a standard documentation was done to describe that how the JavaScript language should work so that the various pieces of software that claimed to support JavaScript were talking about the same language. This is called the ECMAScript standard, after the Ecma International Organisation that did the standardization.

We can say that the term ECMAScript and JavaScript can be used interchangeably or they are two names for the constant language.

I hope that all this blog will help you out to clear your confusions related to its history and a little bit confusion with JS and Java !

Thanks for reading!
